Emergency Shelter Services

Family Promise of Grayson County provides emergency shelter services as part of our mission to end child homelessness. Our program is built on the foundation of warm hospitality and support for families in need.

In Grayson County and beyond, we are dedicated to ending child homelessness through the support of our generous donors and church partner congregations. Our innovative model leverages existing spaces and compassionate volunteers to provide comprehensive services to families in need. We work closely with community resources to ensure that families receive the support they require, at a fraction of the cost of traditional shelters. Our services are inclusive, catering to families of all compositions and often providing the sole shelter option in the community. The effectiveness of our approach is evident as 88% of the individuals we serve secure housing within a relatively short period, thanks to the depth of our services and the unwavering support of the community.

HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE

At Family Promise of Grayson County, we believe that the resources to address family homelessness already exist within our community. Congregations and organizations generously provide temporary homes, while our Day Centers offer essential facilities for families to access showers, case management, and assistance in finding housing and employment. Transportation options are readily available to ensure families can move between shelters and Day Centers. Central to our program are the dedicated volunteers who selflessly contribute their time, prepare meals, and extend hospitality to families in need. Their commitment underscores our belief that motivated individuals can effectively combat family homelessness while fostering a sense of 'home' and community for those facing housing insecurity.

ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY

Family Promise of Grayson County believes in uniting the community to address the issue of family homelessness comprehensively. By fostering community engagement, we strive to increase awareness of the root causes of family homelessness and take proactive steps to mitigate them. Our organization has spearheaded numerous community initiatives, encompassing housing programs, homelessness prevention, childcare, and various localized efforts targeting poverty and homelessness.

SUSTAINABLE OUTCOMES

Beyond achieving an 88% success rate in securing stable housing for families, our approach represents substantial cost savings for the community by diverting from more expensive interventions. By keeping families together, identifying their strengths, and collaborating with the community, we significantly reduce the risk of recurrent homelessness, offering sustainable solutions to those we serve.

IMPACTING LIVES

At Family Promise of Grayson County, our work transforms lives. We have positively impacted the lives of 126,000 parents and children in the past year, enabling them to realize their full potential. Our outreach also extends to our 200,000 volunteers, providing them with meaningful opportunities to make a difference right in their own communities.
