Emergency Shelter Services

Through generous donors and congregational partnerships, we utilize existing spaces and compassionate volunteers to provide comprehensive services to families with minor children. This model operates at a fraction of the cost of traditional shelters and provides warm hospitality and support for families. The effectiveness of our approach is evident as 88% of the families we serve secure housing within a relatively short period, thanks to the depth of our services and the unwavering support of the community.
We believe that the resources to address family homelessness already exist within our community. Congregations and organizations generously provide temporary shelter, while our Day Center offers essential facilities such as showers, case management, and assistance in finding housing and employment. Central to our program are the dedicated volunteers who selflessly contribute their time, prepare meals, and extend hospitality to families in need.

ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY
Family Promise believes in uniting the community to address the issue of family homelessness comprehensively. By fostering community engagement, we strive to increase awareness of the root causes of family homelessness and take proactive steps to mitigate them. Our organization has spearheaded numerous community initiatives, encompassing housing programs, homelessness prevention, childcare, and various localized efforts targeting poverty and homelessness.
SUSTAINABLE OUTCOMES
Our approach represents substantial cost savings for the community by diverting families from more expensive interventions such as shelters. By keeping families together, identifying their strengths, and collaborating with other organizations, we significantly reduce the risk of recurrent homelessness, offering sustainable solutions to those we serve.
IMPACTING LIVES
At Family Promise of Grayson County, our work transforms lives. We have positively impacted the lives of 525 families in the past year, enabling them to realize their full potential. We also provided 1, 719 families with referrals to other services.
